TEAM
LOtus manatad-watsonIG: @LOTUS.MW
LOTUS is one of my biggest inspirations. Her surfing is powerful and fluid. She is not your typical small wave toes to the nose longboarder. She prefers big waves and hitting and floating big sections. She has a smile and energy that you can’t help but gravitate toward. Her strength and resilience is unmatched. You’d never know that she’s overcome a cerebral vascular disease called moyamoya. In 2022-2023, she’s undergone two brain surgeries that required her to travel back and forth to North Carolina.
“Both times were uncertain for me, and put me through excruciating pain. I would’ve never thought I would’ve gone to thinking it was the end, to thinking about when the next swell is. I overcame the weight of that uncertainty, which constantly played with my consciousness, by thinking of all my family and friends, and the life I haven’t lived yet.” she said.
To this day she’s living her best life.In her words, A perfect day for Lotus would start with a crispy morning surf at Hale’iwa or Makaha, followed a Spicy Ahi Roll, Hot Cheetos, and a White Monster energy drink from 7-11. While I’m munching, we would catch all the red lights home so I could have more time jamming to my playlist with old-school songs that remind me of my papa, or my other playlist with my 90s-2000s surf music.
Then, when I get home and open my computer, I would find that I only have two assignments due instead of eight. After I complete them, I would make a strawberry, banana, and blueberry smoothie before going out for another crispy surf session with no afternoon onshore winds. I would probably stay out until mid-evening, come in to drink water, then paddle right back out and stay until dark.
After that, I would go home, shower, eat my mom’s spaghetti, call my friends, and knock out.
Who is your inspiration and why?
My biggest inspiration is Aunty Megz. She’s been my mentor for a few years now and has played a big role in shaping the surfer I am today. She’s the one who introduced me to bigger waves and encouraged me to embrace bigger turns on a longboard, giving me the confidence I need to hold my own in male-dominant line-ups. She’s also the reason I started riding Hi-Pro’s. Aunty Megz is always pushing me way out of my comfort zone, takes me out on days that I genuinely question my life decisions - and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
You’re going on a trip around the world to chase waves, where are you going, which 3 friends are you bringing, and why?
If I went on a surf trip, I would want to go to the Telo Islands in Indo, stay at Latitude Zero, and bring Kaiya Oliva, Ka’iwa Foster, and Kaupena Keaulana because they would make the trip super fun both in and out of the water.
Shout outs/Sponsors:
Shout out to my parents for their continuous sacrifice, commitment, support, unconditional love, and, of course, all the photos and footage. Thank you to Uncle Robin for my sick quiver, Flying Diamonds for my fin setups, and Ocean Grom for the leashes I go through way too fast during winter.

Scotty Lima
IG: @Grandpadynamite
Scotty Boy AKA Grandpa Dynamite is the nicest guy you’ll meet and a true ambassador of Aloha. To meet someone who brings the light and a great attitude 100% of the time is rare and Scotty is just that. Grounded, positive, grateful and humble and kind. He was once in the trenches of drug and alcohol addiction, but today you can most likely find him pulling into the trenches at Sandy Beach as he lives a sober life, clear minded and able to enjoy every moment that comes his way.
He loves giving back to the kids and to those that still walk the path he once walked. Scotty said he’s inspired by his cousin Hauoli Reeves who helped him build his foundation and of course our Lord and Savior.
If Scotty were to go on surf trip to chase the best waves he’d bring his brothers Keona Kennedy, Jeremy Valledor, and his cousin Hauoli.
Scotty is supported by TRIAD Bodyboards, Kicks, HawaiianLine International HLI and Just + Water. Mahalo Scotty for the inspiration.
Keona KennedyIG: @KeonapaSince the 80’s, Keona Kennedy, hands down one of the best barrel riders, a style master and recognized as one of the premiere big men of the sport. There will be many great riders that have left marks in the sport, however there are very few who kept going, who are still relevant today showing the new generation what proper style and effortless riding looks like.
With an A+++ wave IQ, he’s proven that size isn’t a limitation. Especially in massive shorebreak. Most reach a certain age and leave shorebreak to the kids. Not Ona. He’s the one sitting the deepest and farthest out.
Keona recently released a signature model with Triad Bodyboards geared for bigger guys. You can check the board out at www.Triadbodyboards.com
We’re honored to have Keona part of the Ohana.
Kirkland nakamaIG: @CouplefourNo one surfs like Kirk Nakama. Kirk is pure talent. By far one of the greats at DK bodyboarding. A humble, yet personable and kind human out of the water yet a complete weapon in the surf. Kirk moves so much water, throws crazy tail, demolishes every section, no grab rail floaters all day everyday thats why he stuck on the top shelf with the best.
Kirk was easily at the top of the sport in the mid 90’s, multiple sponsorships, won many contests, featured in many magazines. Although life took some turns which led him away from the scene, Kirk has been back and has not skipped a beat since. The new generation that sees him ride today are always pretty mindblown. Because again no one surfs like him.
Kirk is supported by Riat bodyboards and has a signature model called the “Purist” you can find it Riat Bodyboards. Stoked to have Kirk part of the Ohana.
Jimmy HutaffIG: @jimmy_hutaff
Jimmy Hutaff AKA “The Wizard” brings the magic from Maui. Another one of the greats at DK bodyboarding. Jimmy is known for his flawless, technical DK style, competitive edge, wave knowledge and he’s an unreal waterman. Don’t sleep on his prone skills as he really is an all around amazing rider. Jimmy is also the 2005 IBA Dropknee Champ and the only one from Maui to ever hold world title!
He’s won many contest over the years, graced many magazine ads, covers and features. Jimmy is very righteous, wise, adaptive and sharp which made him always relevant in the industry.
Just recently taking up paddling, Jimmy has medaled in many events in OC1, regatta and the prestigious OC6 Maui to Molokai Pailolo Channel long distance race. He is a true waterman. With Maui being flat during the summer, his new paddling passion has still allowed him to ride waves.
Jimmy is also so visionary and problem solver which has led him to help a lot of people in different industries and in life. We are beyond honored to have the wizard part of Ohana.
Jimmy also has a signature board with Triad called “The Magic Carpet” you can learn more about this board at www.triadbodyboards.com
Michelle HutaffIG: @michelle_hutaff
We can’t help but have Michelle (Jimmy’s wife) part of our team. You’d never know that this grandma to 6 is an absolute beast on the water. Well you actually would have some idea because she looks like a complete specimen.
Michelle and Jimmy are our power couple from Maui. I don’t know any woman that trains harder than Michelle. Michelle has recently picked up paddling and she has been medaling and absolutely killing the game. She out paddles girls half her age and she’s not stopping there. She’s always been the crews top pick. She loves riding waves on her one man or on her boogie.
Michelle’s mindset and grit is inspiring and there is no other woman that I know, who always puts her whole heart into anything she pursues and will easily thrive. So honored to have Michelle on the team.
chaves alapai-TorresChavez is currently one of the best from the West. We’d like to say in general he’s an extremely talented 15 year old grom who started bodyboarding when he was 7. He spends a lot of time in the air, He sets the standard for groms, boosting huge, huge airs, and flips. Chavez style is effortless, His homebreak is Makaha Beach and he’s entered many contests with his major win recently in the 2026 Sandys So stoked Contest in the Jr. Pro Division. Look out for the grom he’s just getting started.
Chavez just wants to be in the ocean. After surf, mop sesh is a fat poke bowl and when he’s not surfing, like most 15 year-olds he’s playing Kendama. Chavez is supported by Triad Bodyboards. Stoked to have West’s Best on the team.

Noah chapmanIG: @noahfromdasouth
Noah Chapman pushes the limits for the groms. When I think of a fearless grom, I think of Noah. He was the only grom, at 15, you’d find at maxing log cabins, 8ft days outside of rockpiles and maxing 10-15 pipeline. This grom is next level. Standing at 6’3 and weighing 185, don’t discount his air game because its solid. A humble, soft-spoken, polite and kind young man, now 17 he’s travelled the world surfing, competing, pushing the limits and representing Hawaii.
Noah trains the hardest. You can find him training everyday, at half point in all conditions as he prepares for Fronton in October. Noah is supported by Hubb Bodyboards (www.hubboards.com). So happy to have Noah on the team!
sarai akionaSarai Akiona, is just the sweetest and kindest girl you’ll ever meet. Don’t let her infectious smile fool you though, as she’s fierce and competitive in the water. She’s either won, or finaled in every contest she’s ever entered. She’s the most consistent and stylish Hawaiian.
We love watching her charge. She works hard but she just loves the boogie lifestyle. She’s also supported by Triad bodyboards. The board she currently rides is the 39 Lotus. Watch out for Sarai because she’s hasn’t even hit her sweet 16 yet!
